Grace Of Guruji

SriSriSpeaks: You give someone ten compliments and one insult, the mind holds on to that insult. That is the nature of the mind. When you become aware of this, a shift happens in you.

Q: I feel confident during Satsang and Sadhana. After coming out of Satsang, I feel very afraid again.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Isn’t all your work getting done? Continue your Sadhana and Satsang. Sadhana, the path is there to remove your fear. Don’t worry everything will happen.

SriSriSpeaks: Attachment is when you want something in return. If you love and do not want anything in return, then that love doesn’t turn into attachment.

Q: Guruji, the concept of death is bothering me a lot. If death is inevitable then what is the point in living. Please kindly enlighten me on this.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
If a bud feels anyway I have to wither away why should I blossom what will you think. A bud has to blossom and bring joy and fragrance in this world and then it withers away. right? If a tree thinks anyway a fruit has to become a seed so why should I bear fruit? So nature is such; as long as you are here in the planet see how much guidance you can give.

SriSriSpeaks: Faith in the world brings you peace of mind. Faith in God evokes love in you.

Q: I am the mother of an eighteen-year old. My son used to have a lot of problems just like any other teenager and I had reached a stage where I used to wonder how I could change my son, And then I came to know about the YES plus course and I put him through it and there is a whole lot of changes in my son, a huge transformation. I see him doing yoga. And the reason why I am here standing in front of you is because of my son – I saw the transformation in him and I am here. Okay, I am hooked on to you now, thanks to my son. Now my point is there must be a lot of mothers like me suffering silently, trying to figure out what exactly they can do to change their children, because especially the way things are going on these days, so much money, pubs, a whole lot of things happening. Why can’t Art of Living reach out to schools? Talk about all that you have to offer, reach out to 16 year olds and 17 year olds. Please. Reach out with this course. I am sure a lot of people are going to change.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
You know mothers like you can contribute. Mothers like you, few of you can join together. If you talk to principals in various schools, colleges, in your free time; take a little time and do this seva, do this service – that would be even better. Our approach, any way we are doing, it has its limitation. People think we have an ulterior motive. Oh, they want to increase their…whatever. They may need something for themselves that is why they are doing. They don’t realize we are doing for the sake of the children and for the sake of our society. So we will do that, we are anyway doing. We have done in Karnataka, all the second year engineering college students in Maanyavati college project, twenty two thousand of them. It was one of the best projects because the youth had such a transformation, just engineering college students. But they should do it for all the students in all the degree colleges, all levels, but for that you all have to write to the government, and the education department.

SriSriSpeaks: When attention is given to the spiritual aspect of one’s life,it brings a sense of responsibility & compassion for all humanity.

Q: Guruji, I feel that silence really kills after a fight/argument at home.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Have you done the Advance course? Do that. You will really enjoy silence.

SriSriSpeaks: The love that is defined by a relationship is limited. Dive deep in a love that is beyond relationships.

Q: How to deal with obsessions?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Adavance course. It helps you a lot.

SriSriSpeaks: Wise ones celebrate diversity, fools fight over it.

I should take responsibility for little things even when I have little control. Which is correct?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Life is a balance between these two things. Taking responsibility and letting go. It’s both. That’s a fine balance. For the present and future take responsibility, for the past know that it has to happen that way and move on. So often we do the reverse. We think that the past was free will and regret and we think the future is all destiny and we don’t do anything about it. But you know what the wiseones do? They regard the future as free will, past as destiny and they are happy in the present. So you don’t regret about the past and you know what you want to do in the future and you are on it.

SriSriSpeaks: See this world as a play and display of God himself and repose in the non dual Self.

Q: Dear Guruji, I know that my parents love me but are not very affectionate. They do not express their affection the way I like it to be shown. How can I deal with these feelings and not be bothered by their actions?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Don’t give it too much importance. Move on!

In life these events happen, such occasions come. Such negativity comes, pleasantness comes; so what! None of them will stay forever, they come for a minute and they go. Wisdom or yoga is a way to avoid suffering, avoid fear and avoid unpleasantness.
When this is lacking then you see suffering. There is a belief that suffering is essential because through suffering you reach the goal. When you suffer then you understand and you learn a lesson. In the East they say suffering is avoidable and not necessary. Life is bliss! You know why? This is because wisdom, yoga and meditation are ways to avoid suffering which has not yet come. So suffering is not inevitable if you know yoga and meditation.
