SriSriSpeaks: The seed of this Universe is deep inside you; the Self. In this human body it is possible to realise it fully.

Q: Would you consider becoming an advisor of the government if they were more forthcoming?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Yes, all of you should work together to ensure that such a government is formed. I keep giving advice, but some people don’t listen to it immediately, they listen to it later. That’s also good.

SriSriSpeaks: The very meaning of Kailash is where there is only celebration, only joy, nothing else besides it. Vaikunth is where Narayana resides, a place where there is no lack of anything; everything is in abundance, and there is all prosperity and all joy. Where are Kailash and Vaikunth? Right here!

Q: Nature is giving us everything but why is it so furious against everything in this world. Why natural calamities, earthquakes, floods?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Natural calamities occur because it is part of its nature. Secondly we have not been utilizing nature properly. We have been too greedy. We put dynamites on earth and blast it every day. One day the earth will shake; the earth is a living organism.

SriSriSpeaks: In the universe there is only truth. Within consciousness, the universe and life both exist. And in God, truth, consciousness and bliss, all three are present. And joy is hidden within us. Through practice (sadhana) that joys sprouts. So God is asleep within you, hidden inside – awaken Him! This is what is ‘Jaagaran’. Awaken the mother, the Goddess sitting inside you, awaken Her! Shivji is sitting inside, awaken Him! Sri Hari is sitting inside, awaken Him!

Q: Guruji, if our nearest and dearest ones don’t understand the feelings that we have towards you and they logically try to analyze and this hurts us. How do we handle this situation, this often comes in our life.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Why do you want to explain everything to everybody? Feelings are such that people don’t understand. You don’t have to express all your feelings like that. They could be insecure and think that you will leave home and go to the Ashram and be there. So see that people don’t get into that fear. Your love and devotion should be expressed only as much as they can understand. Same with joy, sometimes you don’t know how to express your happiness; if you express too much people don’t understand.
Be skillful in conveying so that your expression doesn’t bring fear and anger in others. And then ignore. Beyond a level you should simply ignore.

SriSriSpeaks: If your eyes are sweet you will Love the world but if your tongue is sweet the world will love you. “Keep your head an ice factory, mouth a sugar factory, then your life will be satisfactory.”

Q: When someone of our own suddenly passes away and we are not prepared when he leaves, there is so much to talk and to say and when he leaves you want him to feel. You said they are always there so how to do that?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Those who have left will understand that this world is just a play, there is nothing really; it’s just a wave so there is no need to tell them or explain anything to them, without saying anything they will understand. When in the body, we understand using words but once we are out of the body, then communication happens through feeling. So don’t worry, you be happy, those who have gone have gone and we are here now.

SriSriSpeaks: Education or culturing our self is being aware of what is happenning in our mind, body and the whole complex of what we call human life. And the basis of human life is love.

Q: Guruji, you asked us to be dispassionate and you also say that dispassion is a happening. I really want to be dispassionate but I am confused how can I create a happening in my life? Please guide
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Dispassion is not a happening; I would say dispassion is what you invoke in yourself. When you widen your awareness, when you see everything is going to disappear and death is imminent, we are all going to die and everything is changing; when this knowledge comes – then dispassion is spontaneous. You need to understand and see life from a broader perspective and then automatically dispassion comes within you; but there is some effort. A little effort from you and then it will happen.

SriSriSpeaks: If you can’t see the Divine in me, then open your eyes! If you can see the Divine in me, then you are a part of me; you cannot be away from me. If you feel a part of me, you will see the Divine in yourself. And when you see the Divine in yourself, you’ll see the Divine in everyone.

Q: Dearest Guruji, I am a YES student. My school syllabus is very vast. I do not manage to retain much on the exam day. Can you suggest what to do to increase the capacity of my mind?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Relax! Listen to music. Do something creative.  A few minutes of silence and a nature walk will help. Observing the nature is good.

SriSriSpeaks: One who has given you everything has also given you freedom. Honor the freedom and make good use of all things given to you. Your sankalpas (Intentions) and desires separate you from God. Offer them all to the Divine. Then you are divine. You are God. You are free, lacking nothing. Your mind does not belong to you. Don’t blame it. Let the Big Self embrace it.

Q: Guruji, when I study in the class, my friends disturb me. What can I do?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Do one thing. You disturb them even more, and then, when they are disturbed, you can sit and study.
